What is micro needling?

How good is it and how does it work?

Micro needling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimal invasive treatment that is said to help combat acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles and even stretch marks.

This is a rejuvenating treatment that uses either a dermapen or dermaroller. Both have micro sized tiny little needles that are used to prick the skin making many tiny little puncture wounds in the skin’s top layers. In repairing the puncture wounds the skin regenerates itself and triggers the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are both proteins found in the skin which helps keep the skin looking younger and fresher, as we age the protein production slows down which results in loss of elasticity making the skin wrinkle and appear to sag. Stimulation of collagen production encourages a brighter complexion, smoother more refined skin texture and can reduce scaring. This in turn can actually help slow down the appearance of aging and reverse the signs of premature aging.

After the micro needling treatment the skin can feel quite sensitive, feel slightly swollen and skin redness will last up to 48 hours. The effects of the treatment can be noticed soon after this.
